The Moon Valley

Heading to Valledoria, you can reach the Moon valley in Aggius, thus named due to its very unusual naturalistic aspect. While strolling in this flat area rich of isolated or grouped granite stones of various sizes, you will feel like you are on the moon with this landscape dotted with rocks. The peculiar forms of the boulders here, recall figures of animals and profiles of human faces; the most distinctive is the famous “Head of Plato” rock. You must visit this unique landscape and take some snap photos.

After a lunch break tasting the traditional dishes of Gallura, you can head toward Castelsardo in the afternoon, a small medieval village, which is part of the “Most Beautiful Villages in Italy” with the Castle housing the museum of Mediterranean weaving. You can admire “the elephant rock” along the road to this beautiful place, at the side of the 134 Anglona highway, a boulder crashed downstream detached from Monte Casteddazzu with a peculiar shape reminding the pachyderm proboscis.
